What does AI audit software cost for a small CPA firm?
One of the sixteen tools in the Audit & Assurance AI category posts a price; the other fifteen are quoted after a demo. That is the honest answer, so here is how to think about the demo, and what the one posted price is. Read on the vendors' sites in October 2026.
The posted price
- AuditFile: $179/user/mo on an annual agreement, $199 month to month, with a free trial. Cloud audit platform with methodology, trial balance and workpapers, and AI Audit Agents — AI Help, AI Prepare, AI Review and AI Perform on every procedure — plus a Disclosure Checklist Agent, an AI trial-balance categorizer and a request-list generator. Named for solo practitioners and small firms on its own site.
Platforms, quoted
- Caseware: Verity AI layer and agents (risk suggestion, document intelligence, disclosure checklist), AI Powered Audit in OnPoint; Caseware Validate checks draft statements for math and consistency errors.
- CCH Axcess Audit (Wolters Kluwer): Knowledge Coach methodology with agentic AI and AI-driven risk assessment.
- Cloud Audit Suite (Thomson Reuters) with Audit Intelligence analytics and CoCounsel Audit & Accounting, the agent that drafts workpapers with citations.
- Inflo: digital audit methodology with AI risk analysis, US and PCAOB content packs; usage-based pricing.
- Fieldguide: Field Agents that plan, audit, review and build financial statements on your methodology.
Point solutions, quoted
- MindBridge scores every transaction for risk; Audit Sight runs deterministic full-population tests (and is a Dynamic Audit Solution partner); Circit pulls verified bank data straight from banks; DataSnipper and Trullion match evidence to workpapers inside Excel; Punchcard's CoAudit tests evidence with source-linked citations; Suralink and AuditDashboard run the request lists with AI prescreening.
How to run the demo
Bring one finished engagement file and ask the vendor to show the same procedures on it. Ask which outputs are generative AI, which are statistical risk models and which are rules, because several of these vendors draw that line themselves and your reviewer will too. Then ask for a per-user or per-engagement number in writing; every tool here sells that way, even if the website doesn't say so.
